are made
of a 100% polyester fabric which
comes in 14 lustrous colors and has
the look of more expensive fabrics.
While it is possible to find very
inexpensive caps and gowns made from
cheaper and thinner fabrics such as
acetate, cotton blends or lower grade
polyesters (like a Halloween costume),
we do not believe you would be satisfied
with them. This fabric is much nicer
looking and less "see-through"
than lower grade polyesters or cotton
blends.
It
is important to us to offer you a
fabric that is washable and very durable.
It will serve your family through
multiple graduations, if you choose
to reuse it. A number of our
customers and homeschool group leaders
have complimented the quality of the
construction on these gowns, as well.
They are made in the U.S.A. and are
neither a "matte" finish
nor a "super shiny"
finish. We have avoided carrying those
with an extremely shiny, "coated"
finish because they seem to "snag"
so easily. Our cap and gown sets have
quite a bit of sheen, as shown, but
are also quite durable. We feel they
are a nice product for a reasonable
price.
Labeling
and Care:
In the past year our supplier has
changed their label. The label now
reads "Single use; washing or
dry cleaning not recommended."
The cap and gown is the same set that
we have been selling for 5 years and
has not changed at all, but this labeling
is now very common industry-wide,
to discourage schools from reusing
the gowns. Polyester is a completely
washable fabric, and the seams are
overcast (serged) to help prevent
raveling. We've washed these gowns
ourselves a number of times with no
problems, and the feedback from customers
on the durability and washability
has been very positive. We recommend
that you hand wash in cool water and
hang to dry. The caps, however,
are NOT washable or dry-cleanable.
Ironing
Instructions for the Gown:
Use
your iron's lowest heat setting (the
setting for synthetic fabric or polyester),
and test a small area first to be
sure that the iron is not too hot.
An iron that is too hot will melt
the fabric. We have had best results
by ironing from the inside of the
gown. (Turn it inside-out first.)
To store for future use, be sure to
wash before storing. Once gown is
completely dry, store away from light
in an area with good ventilation. |
