Our "Traditional" Cap and Gown Sets
are made of a 100% woven polyester fabric which has the look of more expensive fabrics. While it is common to find caps and gowns made from cheaper and thinner fabrics such as acetate, cotton blends or lower grade polyesters (like a Halloween costume), we don't believe you'd be satisfied with them. This fabric is much nicer looking and less "see-through" than lower grade polyesters or cotton blends. However, there will be some 'show-through,' especially with the light colors, so be sure to wear white clothes if you are wearing a white gown.
IRONING:
You can get the majority of the wrinkles out of your gown by putting it in the dryer on the lowest heat setting and putting a damp towel in with it. Run it for about 15 minutes. (Don't OVER dry, or it will be full of static!) This will remove most of the wrinkles. If it needs to be ironed, use the lowest heat setting on your iron (usually called "synthetics" or "polyester"). Test a small area first inside a seam to be sure that the iron is not too hot; an iron that is too hot will melt the fabric. We have had best results by ironing from the inside of the gown.
WASHING:
The apparel is 100% woven polyester fabric. Polyester is a completely washable fabric, and the seams are overcast (serged) to help prevent raveling. We've washed these gowns ourselves a number of times with no problems, and the feedback from customers on the durability and washability has been very positive. We recommend that you hand wash in cool water and hang to dry. The caps, however, are NOT washable or dry-cleanable.
