Our “Matte” Style Cap and Gown Sets

These matte finish graduation gowns are made of a heavy 100% woven polyester matte fabric which drapes nicely. We stock 6 colors in this style: Black, Royal Blue, Navy Blue, Red, White and Maroon. They have an interfaced yoke into which the sleeves and body are gathered, and come with a very solid cap made from a stiff, non-corrugated board. Matte fabric gowns for graduation are gaining in popularity, partly because they look so good in a flash photo. The dark color matte gowns are very opaque. White gowns are made from a lighter fabric; we recommend wearing white beneath the gown, as shown by our model in the photo above. There is a pleat on each side of the zipper at the bottom to help these generously-cut gowns hang more closely to the body.

Ironing Instructions for the Gown:
Use your iron's lowest heat setting (the setting for synthetic fabric or polyester), and test a small area first to be sure that the iron is not too hot. An iron that is too hot will melt the fabric. To store for future use, be sure to wash before storing. Once gown is completely dry, store away from light in an area with good ventilation.
