Submitting Artwork for a Foil Stamping Die
(The same information applies for artwork for a flat foil diploma seal)
Only certain types of artwork can be used for a foil stamping die. Here are the most important elements to understand:
- Because the foil is only one color (silver or gold) the artwork must be only one color
- The BLACK areas of the artwork will end up being foil, and the background (white) will be the diploma cover
- We cannot use artwork that contains color or shades of grey
A. NO -- Color artwork is not acceptable
B. NO -- Black and White" artwork if not acceptable if it contains shades of grey
C. YES -- LINE ART IS IDEAL. The black areas will be printed as areas of foil on the diploma cover.

Details about submitting the electronic artwork:
- Your artwork should be 300 dpi or better
- The largest size image we normally stamp is just under 3" high by 5.5" long. If your artwork is an average size of about 2.75" square, this means we'd like your image to be about 800 - 1,000 pixels each direction.
- We prefer a .pdf or .jpg file, but can also accept an .ai, .tif, or .eps
- If you are ordering a die for a first-time job with us, once you place the order for the covers and die, we'll email you to ask for the artwork.
- If your art is not in the proper format (see examples above), it is not likely that we will be able to use it. We can do some limited conversion work, but we do not have a graphic artist on staff that can completely rework your logo for use on the diploma cover.
- Please call us if you have questions about whether we can use your artwork. We are always happy to take a look at it and tell you if we can use it.
