The "Ultra" matte finish gowns are available here as special-order items in a dozen rich colors! This is a tightly woven polyester cloth with no shine at all. The matte finish is more common in collegiate gowns, and is also popular with photographers because there is no "glare" on the surface of the gown.

These "Ultra" gowns are "made in the USA" by the same manufacturer of our Traditional gowns, but these use a fabric with a matte finish. The Ultra gowns have the same construction and features as the Traditional gowns (see the chart on this page for details). Like the Traditional gowns, these have a yoke that encloses the seam where the front of the gown is pleated into the yoke. The top of the zipper tape is smoothly enclosed into the yoke as well. This matte fabric is lighter in weight than the fabric of our stocked matte gowns, which is a plus for those whose ceremony will be held in hot weather.

The matte "Ultra" cap & gown set is not stocked, but may be ordered from this form as a "special-order" item; allow 4 weeks until the order is shipped.

Wash gown in cool water on gentle cylce, hang to dry. Cap is not washable. If storing for future use, store away from light in good venilation.

Sizing the Gown:

Gowns are cut so they fall 8 to 10 inches from the floor. If a longer gown or sleeve length is desired, order one size larger than what would be normal for your height. Be sure to measure the student's height with the shoes they will wear for the ceremony. The size listed is the actual length of the gown from the back neck to the hem.

Determine whether you need a Regular fit
or a Full fit gown:

Regular size gowns have a fair amount of extra fabric and are sized to look good on those with slender to moderately heavy builds. All others should order a full fit gown, an additional $5.00. We recommend the full fit gown if the student's weight is over the range shown for their height.Young men who are broad-shouldered may also find that they need the “full fit” gown even if their weight is not over that shown on the chart.

Caps are not sized:

The caps have small elastic panels on the sides which allow them to work with any head size. We do not require a head measurement, only a gown size.
